This is a physiotherapy led service that focuses on education, prevention, management and monitoring of lymphoedema, as well as linking you into other therapeutic supports.

Support can be provided from the time of diagnosis, before you have your surgery, and after surgery so that we can work on getting you back to doing the things that you were doing beforehand. It can also be accessed during treatments like chemotherapy or radiation therapy, and can  also be a long-term service that monitors you and your risk of lymphoedema over the years after diagnosis.

Puāwaitanga
Hapori

Puāwaitanga Hapori has been developed by Māori for Māori, with whanaungatanga and community connectedness in mind. Based in community clinics that might not typically have access to the range of kaimahi Māori (Māori practitioners) ĀKI offers.

ĀKI works collaboratively with Te Awamutu Medical Centre and offers monthly Cancer Rehab clinics at Mangatoatoa Marae. We’re also keen to be in other communities so let us know if you would like to explore something in your area.
